Aquaponic indoor gardening

Today I found two vids on indoor aquaponics, both inspired by Patti Moreno (aka. GardenGirlTV) - as you can see they are both using the same kind of shelving units as she does. It's a pretty easy construction so anyone can assemble it, and I do think this means we'll have a lot more indoor vegetable gardeners in the future - all over the world :)).

Cool find there. I've had an interest in aquaponics for awhile, but I'd rather go larger scale (backyard).

Unfortunately the wife isn't interested in either scenario.

I was wondering what the best grow system is? I was looking into LED lighting for my hydroponics. Does any one have any experience with this? Does anyone know if these grow lights are any good? LED Grow Lights Thanks!!

Hydroponica: Hm, try to ply her by keeping one tank of beautiful koi carps? It's tough when your interest isn't in synch with the significant other. I'm glad my hubby has so much patience with mine hobbies. (Sorry I took some time answering your comment.)

Mark: If I could afford it I would use LED, but they're even rarer here in Sweden. My general advice is that if you are new to the thing (ie. hydroponics) start cheap. Build up your system using flouroscent tubes (way cheaper) and replace them gradually with LEDs - that way you have a back up if the expensive lamps (LEDs unfortunately) don't work properly.

Patti Moreno is bunk. She never posted the second part of her aquaponic videos. She could have had lettuce and chard easy with fish poop, but she never updated her videos.

I'm not so sure about that. Currently she uses her system as an hydroponic seedstarter, so I know it's up and running, although she hasn't put any fishes in it. And even if she didn't update her aquaponics project she still inspired others to set up working systems.
